To avoid the stress placed on your family at an emotional time, you may wish to consider making decisions in advance. We offer both pre-paid and pre-arranged funerals.
Pre-Paid Funerals
When you choose a pre-paid funeral, it helps relieve the financial burden from your family and ensures your wishes are met.
With our pre-paid funerals, you can choose between regular deposits from as little as $50 a month or you can make a lump sum payment up-front. To ensure the security of your funeral funds, everything is kept in a secure financial bond with Sureplan Friendly Society. Your money is not held by us. You may also benefit as pre-paid funerals are not subject to the Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs Income and Assets Test – this is very relevant for self-funded retirees who are either receiving a part-pension or who are just outside the pension entitlement threshold.

Every aspect of the funeral service is pre-arranged and documented by us. There is no payment required to pre-arrange a funeral, it is simply a way to put down on paper what your wishes are.

Honouring Dad’s wishes for a private funeral, Jim took care of every detail. Nothing was too much trouble, even when we had special or out-of-the-ordinary requests - he simply made it happen.
Jim went above and beyond, helping us find a beautiful priest who delivered a deeply personal and moving service. I never imagined a funeral could be so beautiful.

Over the next week, I had Jim on speed dial. There are so many things to consider when planning a funeral, and Jim knew exactly what we wanted. He used all of his contacts to ensure the vision we had for Mum was executed perfectly, just as she would have wanted. We even had a custom casket designed because Mum was an avid Panthers fan. Let me tell you, it was way beyond our expectations.
The day of the funeral ran like a dream. Jim made suggestions that I would never have thought of, like taking a photo of the casket in the church before everyone came in. As Jim said, “Lethal, you’ll have one opportunity to take the photo – you can always delete it, but you can’t take it later.” Jim also shared some photos that he had taken of the casket in the hearse which I now treasure. We are all so happy to have those memories.
Jim and the team at Nepean Valley Funerals took such good care of Mum and our whole family. We wouldn’t recommend anyone else.

This is not an easy time in any family’s life, but choosing this team will make it a lot easier for you.
We sadly had to use Jim's services last month (January 2025) when my grandmother passed away. There was no discussion of using anybody else because of my experience when we used them last year.

Yes, this occurs regularly. Most cemeteries have allowances for cremated remains to be placed in burial sites. If the person who wishes to be cremated passes first, often the ashes are held by the family until the spouse passes and are then placed in the coffin prior to burial. The cemetery must be advised in all cases so that records are correct and appropriate inscriptions can include both persons on the headstone.
This is completely a personal choice, either way it is important that your wishes are communicated with your family to save them making this difficult decision on your behalf.
